Eight Haikus from Kevin Rudd

photo © Mark Butkus 2019
A new day, a new coat. A purpose unveiled.

The breeze still calming
You could smell the air seaching
The rain would talk now

Stout the air tonight
No sleep strong drink silent stones
To hear a city sleeping

Haven for an unseen life
Dense, the mangrove thrives

Somewhere lost in red
Pale orange signaled her leaving
Almost tangerine

Wave spoke of balance
The inner echo was heard
Resonating forever

The spiral inside
Natures golden ratio
All inside the shelll

Sores from fleas were healed
Now feel invisible bites
There is no escape

Bright the sky tonight
A rarity the blue moon
Mark of the new year

— Kevin Rudd

Kevin Rudd was born in the summer of 1981 in Amarillo, Texas. Son of a rebellious Harley-riding Marine and a kind, southern nurse. Kevin's next destination seems to be unknown, look in the foothills of the San Juan Mountains or the High Rockies if searching. Haikus appeared in the first Bar None anthology in 2010.
