Christmas Blues of a Young Woman or A Charlie Brown Christmas?

This is not A Charlie Brown Christmas character. We don't have the rights to them.

“I think there might be something wrong with me
Christmas is coming,
But I’m not happy
I don’t feel the way I’m supposed to feel
I Just don’t understand Christmas I guess
I like getting presents,
And sending Christmas cards
And decorating trees and all that
But I’m still not happy
I always end up feeling depressed”

— Charles M. Schulz

When we first received these words in text from an aspiring poet we were struck by the emotional depth of the poetry. This young woman had put her heart into this poem. I checked to make sure she was okay, tis the season and all. She LOL'd me and wrote that those lines were from A Charlie Brown Christmas. Then I LOL'd back.

How could I have not noticed familiar words that I have heard since as far back as one has memories. A Charlie Brown Christmas premiered on December 9, 1965 and has been part of our collective Christmases ever since. Thank you Charles M. Schulz for giving me that moment with my daughter, the young poet Charlotte Green.
