The Unwritten Poem of Russell Rosander

photo © Mark Butkus 2009
To be as free as an unwritten poem.

My soul has wings
I flutter un-tethered
Drifting on the breeze
Chasing sunbeams.

Soaring and plummeting
On invisible currents
Whimsically spinning
An ecstatic dance.

Words flitting like butterflies
Through the boundless expanse
Unspoken syllables
Floating on air.

Unfettered and undefined
By patterns of thought
Or having any purpose at all
Never touching the page.

— Russell Rosander

An artist and poet living in the Costalegre of Mexico, Russell Rosander is also a co-founder of the Bar None Group. The Poet Laureate of Barra de Navidad hosts weekly readings and discussions on poetry, art, music and literature...but mostly poetry at Chynna's Backstage Bar and Blue Wave Cafe.  You can find more of his writing at Russell Rosander Short Stories.

Russell has four limited edition volumes of poetry — The Devil is the Creator, Heart of One, MotMots Emergency and Seeds Awakening — available for purchase at his Friday appearances at Hector's Corner Bar in Barra de Navidad. Copies are also available at Babalu's Café and Books in Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico.

The Unwritten Poem is from his 2014 chapbook of poetry, The Devil is the Creator.
