On The Road: Ninety Miles with Jennifer Grafiada

A pause of poetry at the Southernmost Point.

Oh Havana
Coffee-colored dreams of rainy streets
Boys playing with balls
La Playa Santa Maria
If only I could get to you
And your people could come to me

— Jennifer Grafiada

The Sidewalk Poetry project was initiated by the Key West Art in Public Places (AIPP) Board in 2012. The goal of the project is to spread appreciation for the Arts through the installation of winning poems on sidewalks throughout the City of Key West. The project was adapted from a community in Minnesota that successfully implemented a Public Art sidewalk poetry project. Jennifer Grafiada's poem Ninety Miles was one of the selections immortalized throughout Key West. Ninety Miles is located steps from the Southernmost Point landmark...ninety miles from Cuba.
