Having opened their hearts, the Chicago White Sox open their home season today. Go ChiSox! |
This one is for Nevest Coleman
Who was thrown a curveball
Who spent 23 years in prison
For a rape and murder
That he did not commit.
A groundskeeper for
The Southside team
Who minded his own business
Who tended to his team
Until an error by the Justice System
At the age of 26.
Nevest was given a
Certificate of Innocence
by a Cook County Judge
At the age of 49
He could now take a walk
To the ballpark,
To freedom.
His Southside team
The White Sox
Hit a home run and
Welcomed him back
To The family.
Play Ball!
