My Daughter — A Poem of a Mother's Love

For Lexi.

My daughter
My reason
My pleasure and pain
My laughter and sadness
My sunshine and rain
My lessons and answers
My gives and my takes

My kisses
My laughter
My fear and my brave
My overflowing
My empty
My loss and my gain
My brave and my weak

My ease and my strain
My wrong and my right
My different and same
My all and my nothing
My crazy and sane

Without you, I don't know
where I would be
I'm thankful, I'm grateful,
That you're part of me.

— Michelle Munoz Gagne

Mish Gagne, is a proud mother from Detroit, Michigan. As for the inspiration behind My Daughter, Mish adds that, "My daughter, my dear, you are so many things...You are my world, my rock, you're my everything. My reason for waking, you are my reason for sleep. Since you've come into my life, you've helped make me, me. I love you more than words can say. And, I thank you. I'm so thankful for you. Loving you so much saved my life." That in itself, is another poem to Lexi.

My Daughter marks Mish's first appearance on these pages. Her poetry has also appeared in Last Call: Poems, Stories and Art from the Costalegre.
