The leaves they blew
Across the avenues
Leaves abandoned by a summer's drought
Cheated of their destiny
Of their brilliant hues
I sped through fallen leaves
On my way to nowhere
Escaping autumn's blues
Watched the leaves swirl in my wake
Through the rear-view mirror
Headed south to nowhere cheating winter too.
love this smiles.

vivid imagery!
ReplyDeleteWe seem to have a thing for leaves...Walt Whitman must be smiling.
DeleteThis was really good and kittyaugust is so right, the imagery is so extremely vivid. I could actually smell Autumn and the coming snow as I looked out my car window driving through the leaves. It kind of made me jealous. I'm from Illinois and we haven't had much of a winter this year. I've been cheated. LOL! Once again, awesome! Be blessed.
