Russell Rosander's Prayer for the Night

Goodnight moon...

Enter me into
The gentle darkness
Of the night,
Where sweet sleep awaits.
Carry me in the comfort of
Your warm embrace.
Protect me in your beneficence.
I surrender to your tender ministrations,
May you repair my body
From the ravages of the day,
May you fulfill my dreams,
May you replenish my soul,
May you refresh my spirit,
May you give me the strength
To Carry on.

— Russell Rosander

What better way to mark National Prayer Day than with a prayer poem by our very own Russell Rosander. Whether one considers themselves more spiritual than religious most can agree that few things in life can beat a good night's sleep. Prayer for the Night is from Russell's 2014 chapbook of poetry, Heart of One.

An artist and poet living in the Costalegre of Mexico, Russell is also a co-founder of the Bar None Group. The Poet Laureate of Barra de Navidad hosts weekly readings and discussions on poetry, art, music and literature...but mostly poetry at Chynna's Backstage Bar and Blue Wave Cafe. You can find more of his writing at Russell Rosander Short Stories.

Besides Heart of One, Russell has three other limited edition volumes of poetry — The Devil is the Creator, MotMots Emergency and Seeds Awakening — available for purchase at his Friday appearances at Hector's Corner Bar in Barra de Navidad. Copies are also available at Babalu's Café and Books in Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico.
