Flashbulb Eyes

a camera
a lens
an eye
to
the
soul

we monitor
we view
survey
to
try
control

they scrutinize
they watch
discern
to
forge
console

everywhere you look
flashbulb eyes
every bright flash a
bigger disguise

as colours brighten
we cut away
as each sharp focus
our sins convey

— Kim van Breda

Flashbulb Eyes is but one of 90 poems from the South African poet's latest collection of poems — Spectrums. Kim van Breda's second volume of poetry includes, "a variety of themes, emotions and experiences." Beautifully illustrated, Spectrums is available by contacting the author directly.

A writer, skillfully disguised as a Professional Counselor, Kim is passionate about counseling children and adolescents through play therapy specializing in Trauma Therapy and Trauma Debriefing. She enjoys the freedom to express her creative side by using writing as a therapeutic escape from an otherwise hectic lifestyle.
