work stoppage

the air feels incomplete
when i’m not writing.

sure, the sun rises,
leaves burn,
autumn inches forward
marked by geese,
but the house, its creaks and doors,
feels thinner, unreliable,
and the drawer of pencils and pens
is filled with useless sticks,
while paper, the pure void
of creation,
watches.
